Lighthouse project allottees express concern over delay in flat handover
Beneficiaries of the Lighthouse Project, a flagship housing initiative launched under the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, have expressed growing dissatisfaction over the prolonged delay in the completion and handover of flats.
On Monday, a group of allottees visited the office of the Tripura Urban Planning and Development Authority (TUDA) in Agartala and met the Commissioner to seek clarity on the status of the project and the expected timeline for possession of the flats.
During the meeting, the TUDA Commissioner informed the beneficiaries that efforts are being made to complete the remaining construction work and hand over the flats by December this year. He assured them that the pending work would be expedited to meet the proposed deadline.
Despite the assurance, many beneficiaries said they remained unconvinced. They pointed out that nearly six years have elapsed since the project was launched, yet the flats have not been handed over to the allottees. The beneficiaries also noted that Lighthouse Projects in several other states were completed and delivered long ago, making the delay in Tripura a matter of concern.
Expressing frustration over the prolonged wait, the allottees urged the authorities to ensure timely completion of the project. They emphasized that many beneficiaries have been waiting for years to move into their allotted homes.
Meanwhile, the allottees have sought the intervention of Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha and state BJP president Abhishek Debroy. They appealed to the government to take necessary measures to expedite the remaining work and facilitate the early handover of the flats to the beneficiaries.
