Disaster Management mock drill at UK ground in Agartala on June 1
A large-scale disaster management mock drill titled “Civil Defence Air Raid Blackout” will be conducted on Monday (June 1) at Umakanta Academy Ground in Agartala under the initiative of the Sadar Sub-Divisional Administration of West Tripura district.
While, SDM (Sadar) through a statement said that “This is to inform the general public that on 1 June 2026 (Monday) at 3:30 PM, a Civil Defence Mock Drill on “Raid and Blackout” will be conducted at the premises of Umakanta Academy. As part of this exercise, on 1st June 2026 at 3:30 PM, the sounding of sirens, a blackout simulation, and other emergency response drills will also be carried out.The general public is hereby informed of the above exercise and is requested not to panic or become alarmed during the drill.”
The mock drill will involve the participation of multiple agencies, including the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Civil Defence, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Fire and Emergency Services, TSR jawans, Tripura Police, Health Department, Agartala Municipal Corporation(AMC), Public Works Department (PWD), Assam Rifles, Information and Cultural Affairs Department, Sports Department, and Apda Mitra volunteers.
Official sources said that the primary objective of the exercise is to assess preparedness for emergency situations, including rescue operations, relief distribution, and coordinated response mechanisms among various agencies.
According to the administration, Tripura falls within an earthquake-prone zone. Regular mock drills are therefore conducted to enhance public awareness and ensure that all concerned departments and agencies remain prepared to respond effectively during disasters.
