Youth Congress threatens statewide stir over free education, employment issues
The Tripura Pradesh Youth Congress on Monday announced to launch a statewide agitation in the coming days, demanding the implementation of free education and the creation of more employment opportunities for the state’s youth.
Addressing a press conference at Congress Bhavan in Agartala, Pradesh Youth Congress president Neelkamal Saha said that free education should be introduced immediately in Vidyajyoti schools as well as all government and government-aided schools in accordance with the provisions of the Right to Education Act, 2009.
He also demanded the withdrawal of various fees currently being charged from students in these institutions, arguing that such charges place an additional financial burden on families.
Raising concerns over the state’s growing unemployment problem, Saha said the government must take concrete steps to generate adequate employment opportunities for young people. He further expressed alarm over the increasing prevalence of substance abuse among the youth and urged the authorities to adopt effective measures to curb drug addiction.
The Youth Congress leader warned that the organization would intensify its protest and launch a mass movement across the state if its demands were not addressed.
Among others present at the press conference was Partha Acharya, spokesperson of the Pradesh Congress Committee.
The Youth Congress maintained that ensuring accessible education and meaningful employment opportunities is essential for the future development and welfare of the state’s younger generation.
