Police raid at a hotel in Agartala following allegations of illegal activities
Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid at Bijoya Palace Hotel in the Palace Compound area of Agartala on Sunday following allegations of illegal activities being carried out inside the premises.
Police sources said that several rooms of the hotel were searched during the operation. However, no evidence of any illegal activity was found during the raid. Police stated that six persons were staying in three rooms, and all their details had been properly recorded in the hotel register. Nothing suspicious or unlawful was recovered from the occupants.
After completing the search operation, police issued necessary instructions to the hotel authorities before leaving the premises.
Meanwhile, local residents alleged that immoral activities, including prostitution and other anti-social activities, had been taking place at the hotel for a long time. Some locals further claimed that such alleged activities continued due to an alleged understanding between the hotel authorities and certain police personnel. However, police have not officially confirmed any such allegations so far.
